This research explores the evolving relationship between sustainability and consumer behaviour in the cosmetics industry, with a focus on practices and perceptions in the French market. Against the backdrop of growing environmental concerns and stricter regulatory frameworks, the study investigates how brands adapt their product lines, communication strategies, and supply chains to align with sustainable development goals. A quantitative survey conducted among French cosmetic consumers (N = 39) provides insight into awareness levels, purchasing preferences, and expectations regarding transparency and environmental responsibility. The findings reveal that while environmental sustainability remains a major concern: particularly regarding packaging, microplastics, and chemical ingredients, social factors such as health risks and ethical sourcing are also gaining importance. Furthermore, consumer influence, amplified by digital platforms and sustainability certifications, plays a pivotal role in driving industry-wide transformation. This study highlights the importance of transparent communication and holistic sustainability strategies as key drivers of trust, competitiveness, and long-term brand value in the cosmetics sector.en_US
