| dc.description.abstract | This thematic paper explores the career pathways of healthcare professionals transitioning from traditional clinical roles into alternative pathways such as healthcare management, entrepreneurship, education, and digital health. Using a qualitative research design, the study conducted in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 13 participants from Thailand, Myanmar, and the United Kingdom who had experienced career transitions within the healthcare sector. The findings reveal that many professionals were motivated by a desire for personal growth, improved work-life balance, and the need for greater flexibility and autonomy. However, the professionals faced major challenges, including financial insecurity, skill gaps in non-clinical areas, and societal or familial expectations to remain in traditional roles. Despite these obstacles, participants adapted through continuous learning, mentorship, and hybrid career models that allowed for gradual change. The study highlights the need for better institutional support and recognition of diverse career paths within the healthcare sector. Flexible and diverse career paths in healthcare can help professionals find more meaningful work while contributing effectively to the health system. | en_US |
