Abstract: | The research focuses on finding how employees’ motivation is impacted by intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The aim is to find out whether which motivation has more positive influence on the determination. First I look into the theory of Self-Determination to account each factor of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation namely; competence, autonomy, relatedness, external regulation, introjected regulation, identified regulation, and integrated regulation, which induces determination. Primary research data is collected through a survey and interviews in order to find and clarify the correspondence between the motivations and determination. After data-analysis both methods show that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation have positive influence on employees’ determination, and intrinsic motivation is a greater motivation than extrinsic motivation. I review these with the sample of 56 employees at Silavadee Resort Pool Spa located in Thailand. However, in order to influence employees’ determination, managers needs to consider both organization structure and employees’ characteristic to create the right policies. Moreover, they must consider how each employee can be effectively motivated, so that they can use the right motivators to increase their determinations.
