Abstract: To manage employees with appropriate leadership styles in the car maintenance business in order to enhance their performance is one of the tasks that every owner of a car maintenance company has to do. It also is what this paper is focusing on. In this research, the actual situation in the three car maintenance companies is discussed to see what the common pattern form of relationship styles the bosses commonly use to manage their employees and to see how their leadership styles effect the employees’ performance in their perception, and how employees perceive the way their bosses use the leadership styles. The case was analyzed by adopting Hsin-Kuang, Hsien-Pei and Pi-Fen’s framework of leadership style in relation to employees’ performance. The research methodology was in-depth interviews with open-ended questions. The finding shows that transformational leadership style is more acceptable and frequently used than transactional leadership style here because it has a strong positive effect on employees’ performance.
