Abstract: | To fill in the gap in the literature on corporate sustainability, this study explores how components of organizational vision contribute to nurturing a sustainability culture within organizations. By adopting a case study approach and utilizing mixed research methods, this study investigates the cultural elements and their relationships within three companies listed in Thailand. The findings indicate that attributes of a sustainability vision including brevity, clarity, abstractness, challenge, future orientation, stability, and the desirability or ability to inspire, as well as the incorporation of stakeholder satisfaction imagery play a role in facilitating the process of communication around sustainability culture. Together with other attributes and the imagery, each attribute plays a critical role in facilitating communication through hierarchical structure, leadership articulation, shared events, and artifacts, which in turn encourage commitment and citizenship behavior among organizational members toward improving stakeholder satisfaction. Last, this study also presents a refined model, future research directions, and managerial implications. |
