Abstract: | This thematic paper, “The Quest for Happiness: Job Satisfaction Among Thai Cabin Crew" explores the complex dynamics affecting job satisfaction within the airline industry. Cabin crew members, integral to aviation’s hospitality, safety, and service sectors, face unique challenges that significantly impact job satisfaction. This research delves into various factors, including compensation packages, work environment, work-life balance, career development opportunities, recognition and rewards, and job security. Through qualitative research involving in-depth interviews with 16 Thai cabin crew members, including pursers, senior cabin crew, and regular cabin crew, this study comprehensively analyzes the elements contributing to job satisfaction. The findings highlight that competitive compensation, supportive work environments, and opportunities for career growth are critical in enhancing job satisfaction. However, challenges such as irregular schedules, long periods away from home, and high-stress situations also play a significant role in shaping their professional experiences. The research further explores the implications of job satisfaction for airline management and policy development. By understanding these factors, airlines can adopt more effective strategies to improve employee well-being, retention, and overall organizational performance. This paper offers valuable insights for airline executives, HR professionals, and policymakers, aiming to create a more fulfilling and sustainable work environment for cabin crew members. |
