Abstract: In the era of innovation-driven development strategy, new product research and development has become crucial for enterprises to enhance their core competitiveness. The crowdfunding model presents both new opportunities and challenges for NPD project management due to its unique advantages. This study systematically compares NPD project management between crowdfunding and traditional ones by combining project management theory with literature review, case analysis, and empirical research. The findings indicate that the crowdfunding model breaks traditional funding limitations by enabling diversified public participation. It also facilitates precise market demand alignment during project planning and execution. However, this model still faces significant challenges including high fundraising uncertainty, susceptibility to schedule disruptions, and difficulties in quality supervision. To address these issues, this study proposes lifecycle practical recommendations, to provide actionable theoretical insights and practical pathways for enterprises implementing crowdfunding-based NPD project management.
